What is the PLA, PETG and ABS Temperature Tower items used for?
And how do you use them?
-
The temperature towers can be used to dial in the perfect temperature for a given filament. The PETG, ABS & PLA towers are towers that have been pre-configured to range the correct temperatures for those filaments.
Once placed on the bed the temperatures can be adjusted to whatever you need for any particular filament.
The tower is printed, you then pick the best temperature for the filament based on which section of the print looks best. The tower will automatically change the temperature at each section.
-
Wow thanks,
So as the tower prints, it automatically changes the nozzle temp to that indicator as it goes up?
Probably a good idea to run one before running a batch job of identical prints then?
-
Exactly!
-
@mavin If you are using a hardened nozzle, increase your hotend temperatures by +15C over recommended filament temperatures. Steel conducts heat poorly compared to brass.
-
@tinken using the RUBY nozzle right now
-
@mavin Those are great until they clog. Hardened steel can be heated with a blow torch to burn out the plastic. Just make sure you quench it in antifreeze to retain it's hardness.
