Hotend heating issues
-
MatterHackers just recently sent us a replacement Hotend and after we plugged in everything (according to their diagram) we’ve been having issues getting it to 215, the most I can get it to constantly is around 205 and below. Has anyone had similar issues that can help? Thanks

@mnicholson766 Was the heater replaced and if so did you tune it?

Make sure the heater cartridge is making good contact with the block and so does the thermistor - if its loose you might be getting a higher temperature than you measure. Also check your wiring as it might be loose and not make proper contact so all the electricity does not get to the heater. If it fluctuates a lot you might want to try a PID tune. I had a similar problem once and it was a kinked wire

The entire Hotend was replaced (wires, Nozzle, Thermister, etc). How do you go about tuning it? Thanks

@pverdin On the first Hotend, the "thermister" fan was blowing extremely quiet and you could barely hear it, but the one we replaced is blowing a lot faster than the first one (you can feel the air its blowing from the other side of the Hotend) and you can hear it as soon as you walk in the room. I'm wondering if the fan is blowing to fast and not allowing it to heat up.

@mnicholson766 The cooling fan on my printer is not that loud but can be heard distinctly when the head reaches a certain temp as it kicks in. I am not sure the fan can blow fast enough to overcome the heater.
PID tuning instructions can be found on https://matterhackers.dozuki.com/Guide/PID+Tuning/6
Not difficult if you take your time
