Converting from 2.85 to 1.75 on the titan aero
-
I have a 2.85mm 24v titan aero and would now like to convert it to 1.75mm. Is there a way to do this aside from just buying a new titan aero?

There is no easy way to convert the hotend from one diameter to another.
You would need to replace the heat break, nozzle and heater block.
It would probably be better to grab the different diameter hotend.

You could save the fan

IDK about the Heatblock for sure but the heat sink needs to be bigger and so does the nozzle and heatbreak looking at the nozzle I have here IDK if you make that hole for the filament about 2x as big if you got enough meat left for the threads.
-
@mpirringer ok, I see now that the nozzle is sold for the filament size, so I understand that, but as far as I can see, the heater block is the same for both 1.75 and 2.85. So, that would mean I could get by with ~$30 for the heat break and the nozzle rather than ~$108 for a new titan aero. Am I off the mark?
-
Also, the aero does not use a heat sink, so I don’t see that as an issue.
-
@crchisholm Yeah but the heatbreak is thicker so the block needs a bigger hole for it to thread in

@mpirringer : I am a bit confued by that. When I look at the heat blocks on matterhackers, they do not seem to designate a filament size. The one I looked at was designed for the e3D v6, which as far as I can tell seems to be the same one that the titan aero uses. Am I looking at the wrong thing?

My apologizes.
When I previously wrote Heater Block, I meat Heat Sink. The Heat break screws into the below unit which are different sizes:
