Nylon on PLA or PETG?

  • Does anyone have any experience printing nylon on top of PLA or PETG? I'm looking at making some stamps where the stamp part has to be nylon, and maybe the immediate background; but the rest of the body and handle can be a different material. Is it possible to print nylon on top of PLA or PETG and have it bind well?

Not to my knowledge. Why not make the entire part out of Nylon?

Sorry for the slow reply; I was out.
The part I'm printing is about 90mm x 130mm, and although with glue and a skirt it sticks to the build plate, once removed (after 12 hours of cooling) it warps slightly. I was thinking maybe a PETG or PLA base might prevent that. The part is a 5mm thick plate with a few holes and protrusions; I've thinned the nylon down to 4 layers top and bottom with a 0.6mm nozzle.

  • Nylon offers superior strength, flexibility, and durability compared to PLA or PETG. However, it requires higher print temperatures and proper bed adhesion. Use Nylon for parts needing high strength and wear resistance. Choose PLA for ease of use and good surface finish, or PETG for a balance of strength, flexibility, and ease of printing.
