Thanks. Appreciate the suggestions. I really don't need MC for bed-levelling as mine has automatic hardware-provided levelling. I've been using S3D but wanted to try MC2 because the update cycle is much faster. I supposed I could look to adding it - we do have access to the source code after all (or at least we used to) - but with so many other things taking my time...

Filament-specific z-offset
I noticed things like z-offset is specific to printer settings, with no means of setting it per-filament. As you know, PETG likes to have a bit of extra distance when laying down the first layer compared to PLA. It is a bit of a pain to set the printer settings each time I change to a different material. Any chance of adding z-offsets to filament settings?
Being an open-minded person, if there is a different way to accomplish this, I'm certainly listening...

RE: Configuring second extruder
@michael-petitclerc Ah very good. I thought I was going crazy as I seem to remember this being different in versions 1.x of MatterControl. Well, let me know what I can do to help out. I've got a custom-build rig originally based off a Felix Tech4, but now sporting an E3D Chimera for dual extruding (much better than the original Felix design).
I can pretty much test whatever you need me to test

RE: Configuring second extruder
Anyone? Seriously, using the UI I cannot seem to figure out how to set the settings for the second extruder. This applies to using support or doing a multi-material print on different portions of the job. Other software I've used (like S3D) are intuitive and easy to set up. I'm really wanting to permanently move to MC simply due to the huge number of quirks in S3D, and their glacial software development cycle...
So, what am I conceptually missing in MC about multi-extruder, multi-material printing? Is there a guide about this?

Configuring second extruder
The most common use I have for the second extruder on my machine is for support materials. However, I can't seem to find a place which allows me to define the temperature to set and/or the material to use for the second extruder.
Printer settings is set for 2 extruders
Quality settings is set to use extruder 2 for support materialsNow, the support material will change depending upon what I'm printing out of Extruder 1. So where do I set these settings? The UI only shows "Quality" and "Material", but no second material (associated with the second extruder).
Example:
Printing PLA+ out of Extruder 1, temp is X degrees C
Printing PVA out of Extruder 2, temp is Y degrees CWhat am I missing here?

RE: Gcode variables for second extruder temperature?
Thanks. Just a documentation bug. Much appreciated.

RE: Which settings override the other? Doesn't seem to follow consistent logic when setting up a profile...
My pleasure. Love the program, even have the git repo and was going to just go through the code to figure it out.

RE: MatterControl 2.0 Z Offset?
The global Z-offset is now in the nozzle offsets section. Got that.
However, all of the responses above are somewhat confusing as to the value to put in for Z. So, to clear up any confusion:
QUESTION: A positive value for Z-offset increases or decreases the distance between the bed and the nozzle?
In most software I've used, a positive value indicates the distance between the nozzle and bed is increased.

RE: Which settings override the other? Doesn't seem to follow consistent logic when setting up a profile...
Ok, I just found this post: https://forums.matterhackers.com/topic/465/why-are-all-settings-in-quality-material and now it makes a bit more sense. Put visually, the settings hierarchy goes like this:
Material - orange
Quality - yellow
User - blue
Base (from printer selection)With the settings above always overriding the settings below (eg. Material setting trumps Quality setting). Unfortunately in the UI, there wasn't a hint of the actual layer-like organization; there were only the color tags. A bit confusing without the layer concept firmly embedded in my mind.

Gcode variables for second extruder temperature?
Using MC 2.0.
I've been looking in the documentation, but can't seem to find the variable which is associated with the second extruder's temperature in a dual extruder setup. If I want to pre-prime both extruders during startup (assuming a dual material print) that doesn't seem possible. Unless, of course, I'm missing something about how MC2 works versus other software (like Simply3D which I have been using).

Which settings override the other? Doesn't seem to follow consistent logic when setting up a profile...
I've read the blog articles, searched the forum, and just can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I've been trying to make a new profile for a custom built printer (It's actually a Felix Tech4 with an E3d Chimera hotend). The problems I'm having is more how MC 2.0 uses the various settings and which settings (Quality vs. Material) override the other? The logic eludes me as it seems to be a mix and match if I look at the results displayed in MC.
Seems like all the settings are duplicated between both Quality and Material, so how do I judge which one will actually take effect?
