@mpirringer I've looked into using a different slicer but without a decent amount of knowledge with Gcode it seems unlikely to happen with the DXE.

RE: Slicing creates gap in first layer.
Check that "fill thin gaps" is selected in the general tab under slice settings?

RE: Argh MC and Fans on the Pulse
Dude Mattercontrol is garbage. I finally gave up and request to return my Pulse DXE (which shouldn't have been released to the market anyway) just so that I can get away from mattercontrol. In two months I've had ONE successful dual extrusion print. The entire purpose of buying the DXE was for dual extrusion. Not only that, but single extrusion prints are GARBAGE quality compared to an Ender 3 Pro using Cura. Same items, same settings, the Ender produces a better product... I don't feel it's the hardware though either.

RE: Starting a 3D printing business
A Prusa is a good choice. It's affordable, you can upgrade certain parts to print abrasive materials, and you're not forced to use certain crappy slicers like mattercontrol.

RE: Creality Ender 5
I would highly recommend NOT using Mattercontrol. It's buggy, inefficient, and produces a horrible finish when compared to Cura.

RE: How to set extruder temperature
Under slice settings there's a Filament tab. In the first block there's a line for Extruder Temperature. Set it there before slicing. But you're better off using a better slicer like Cura.

RE: Inefficient slicing with too many distant non-print moves
The issue with that for is that there's no profile for the DXE yet. I know nothing about Gcode and so I'm not really wanting to attempt writing my own. Without the right profile for Cura or some other slicer it wouldn't be able to do the necessary tool changes.

RE: Inefficient slicing with too many distant non-print moves
Mattercontrol is horrible. That's really all there is to it. Sadly I'm forced to use it with the Pulse DXE. It's inefficient, buggy, produces a horrible surface layer, and printing dual extrusion hasn't exactly been a very good experience for me overall.

RE: Pulse DXE Calibration
So the Matterhackers article on retraction setting actually specifically states to change settings in the EEPROM. That's the reason I was going to do that. Remember, I'm a totally newbie to this so I'm just trying to follow the pros advice haha.
I switched over to NylonX today and so far the benchy that's printing looks 10 times better. I'll post comparison pictures after it's done. I'll look at changing the settings you mentioned as there's still some stringing going on though.
