Best type of Filament...

  • Really new to printing.

Got a client who wants some housings printed for their bed side table. What would be the best filament to use that will print the smoothest (of course based on settings) but also take sunlight over time.

They are for some automation switches (normal sized switch plate) to control lights and motorized TV etc.

    Thanks

  • In my experience probably ASA if you can print it. HIPS is good too even though the color selection in HIPS is less (not as many colors) Both can be chemically smoothened. PETG might also be a good choice especially if you are looking for something translucent. Black Nylon is very stable. Light (natural) colored Nylon turns a little yellow or whiter depending on humidity.
