Solidoodle 2 low temp issue

Hi everyone,
I have an old second hand solidoodle 2 with it's original board but an upgraded e3d style hot end. Since I got it I have had an issue getting the extruder above 190c. The previous owner said that was normal. It worked fine with abs until the stock hot end died now it shows all the symptoms you would expect from a cold extrusion (clogs, poor bed adhesion, uneven printing). Is there anything I can mod on this to boost the output to the hot end?

Check that you are getting 12V to the hotend if you don't it won't heat as expected

If you did not run a PID tune when you installed the new hotend, this might be advantageous as well
