MatterControl communication problem with Marlin on MEndelmax XL



  • Hello everybody,

    I'm new to this forum and very glad to be here.

    I'm currently trying to use my Mendelmax XL with Matter Control but I have some trouble. The connection between PC and printer seems to be fine and actually can manually move the X axis. But no way at all to move other axis, heating extruder or bed. I just got a small movement on the Y axis at the beginning but that's all. Also I got some small movement on Z axis but with big delay between the issue of the command and the execution.

    I don't get any error message or warning. It simply just works properly only with the X axis.

    I also tried different communication speeds but no luck.

    To be noticed that I'm currently using for my prints Repetier Host and everything works like a charm. So it seems not to be an hardware problem.

    Some info about my hardware and software setup:

    - Laptop HP Envy Intel core i7

    - Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit

    - MatterControl 1.6 just downloaded from the official site

    - Marlin V5

    - Arduino Mega 2560

    - Ramps 1.4

  • Can you try some movements and then post a terminal log? Often printers will refuse to move if they are having some kind of an error. The terminal log will show us if the printer is reporting any error messages.

    Again I was able to move X axis, some small movement on Y axis, some small movement on Z axis but the printer is mostly not responding.

  • Unfortunately the log does not show anything unusual. Can you try downloading the 1.7 beta and see if that works any better?
