Which version of Ubuntu to use for MatterControl 1.6?

Sorry for the noob question. I just got a Robo3d R1plus, and I'm having a devil of a time getting MatterControl 1.6 to install in Linux. Which version of Ubuntu should I be using?

We have tested on on a couple versions going back to 14.04. Which one are you running and what is going wrong?
