Z offset problem

I can't get a good squished first layer, it looks like the filament is being dropped on the plate, I messed with the Z offset in MatterControl but it didn't help any, I went so fat as -10mm but there's still a big gap between the nozzle and the plate, so yea, any help would be great, I tried switching to Slic3r but that made no change.

What kind of printer do you have? If you have upper Z limit switches, the problem could be related to Z Height-- perhaps the printer is already at its lowest point and cannot go down any further no matter what Z Offset is set to.
EDIT: I just realized this was posted in the ROBO 3D section, so that answers the question of which printer you have. In that case, perhaps you are having this problem: http://forums.matterhackers.com/topic/9/what-to-do...
