Extrusion speed

  • Not sure I am on the right track here.

I have a E3D lite hotend with a wade type extruder in a bowden configuration.
With the idler on the extruder tightened just so the filament feeds, after the first couple of layers the extruder starts to click as though the nozzle can't let enough filament pass, so the filament is trying to push back hence the clicking, tighten the idler until clicking stops the the filament builds up in the extruder and the tubing and the flow stops or is very intermittent.

Anybody experienced this , and am I thinking along the right lines, if so how can I cure it. Thanks

  • You're either printing too fast or at too low a temperature. Slow down the Speed settings and/or bump up the Extruder Temperature.

  • Thanks Ryan, the extruder temp should be fine at 210, but not sure how or where to change speed, can you please enlighten me.

  • Follow the link in my previous post to the Speed settings documentation.

  • Thanks Ryan, very helpful reading.
